My practice is rooted in informed choice, consent, shared decision-making and the right to self-determination. I believe that pregnancy and birth are normal, physiologic and developmental processes that have a profound and lasting impact on a person's life. As such, special care must be taken to protect the natural progression of pregnancy and birth and particular attention paid to the mind~body~spirit harmony.
My role is to guide the family in maintaining optimal health throughout pregnancy and to monitor you and your baby for variations in the natural process. If complications arise, I use evidenced-based practice to promote well being. I partner with you to help guide you in decision making throughout your pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum care. As a holistic practice, the full spectrum of natural to allopathic remedies are available to you. All recommendations will be thoroughly explained and consent obtained before any care is provided.
I monitor labor with as little disruption as possible. If the need for intervention arises, you can expect to receive appropriate interventions, only as medically necessary. The important difference between my care and most obstetric care is that my clients will not undergo interventions that are NOT medically necessary. The care I offer is respectful of and responsive to individual patient preferences, needs and values, and I work to ensure that patient’s values guide all clinical decisions.
As a midwife, I respect the cultural expressions of the family. The role of the midwife is to guard the birth and her presence should make them feel safe and supported. My clients can expect respectful, holistic, safe care. Visits are held in your home. There is no need to find childcare for your older children, as your family is welcome to participate in your care.
Home birth may include water birth or VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean). Ask me about availability for your location and due date.
